Please be patient..... I am working on building this new site which takes time - in between my painting and etching time in the studio.

a view into my creative process :  I have always felt a deep urge to create, be it painting or drawing, sculpture or jewelry, furniture or tools. As soon as I could hold a pen I was drawing - on the walls of my folks apartment! I now choose more suitable canvas for my creative outputs. 

I don't have a name for my "style" but I am inspired by both the art world and the natural world.  Many of my paintings have both organic and man made attributes.  

Over the last few years I have gotten more interested in printmaking - the process of creating an image in reverse on a plate - i use copper most often, then printing that plate on a press.  I prefer etching and mezzotint, two styles of printmaking.  Etching involves laying a ground on a polished copper plate, then drawing through the ground to remove areas which are then submerged in acid, creating the grooves that hold the ink.  Intaglio is a term used to name this process. 

Mezzotint uses no acids or grounds perse, it uses a rounded file of sorts to raise a bur on the plate - a very time consuming process, after the plate is sufficiently burred the artist uses various tools to smooth the bur down to create lighter shades of grey and even white - again a time  consuming and difficult process - but the results are dramatic. Rich blacks and an endless array of greys can be had by a talented hand.  Look for pictures soon showing both printing processes.
